DaVinci Resolve 15

Free professional video editing suite by Black Magic Design. Revolutionary tools for editing, visual effects, motion graphics, color correction and audio post production, all in a single application! Paid version is $299.

Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate

Cross platform video converting software. Great for trimming the ends of a service, isolating a sermon, or creating an MP3 from a video file. Lifetime License is $59.95.

iMovie

Available for Mac and iOS, iMovie is a great way to dip your toes into the world of video editing or make simple edits to a recorded file. Overall iMovie is a very powerful tool, though it does have some quirks.

Wirecast

High-end software for streaming and recording video. Easy to use interface. Can stream to multiple destinations. Wirecast Studio costs $695 and Pro costs $995, but I highly recommend Wirecast for streaming and recording.

OBS

Free, open source, cross platform software for streaming and recording video. Powerful tool, though has some quirks. Takes a little bit of fiddling to get settings right, but software is under current development and used my streamers around the world. Has a few limitations.

Audio

Anchor distributes your audio to iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, and many others. Even makes it available on Siri and home speaker systems. Allows for post scheduling, podcast stats, and monetization tools.

Though no longer supported, Levelator is a a great tool for making sure all your audio is at the same level. If your audio has a lot of quiet spots and loud spots, Levelator can fix it.

Audacity

Free, open source, cross-platform audio software. Great audio tool that is under constant development.

Cameras & Computers

PTZOptics

Current PTZ (Point-Tilt-Zoom) camera of choice. Company provides great support. Cameras available in SDI, NDI, and USB models. Camera controller unit from PTZOptics is significantly cheaper than other models.

Logical Increments

Logical Increments is a free resource for PC building. The site lists compatible components at varying price levels to help simplify shopping for PC parts.

Sample Setups

Sample NDI Setup (pdf)

A simple setup example. 3 PTZ cameras with NDI, a POE network switch, an IP controller for the cameras, an Audio Mixer, and a PC running streaming software. This is a pretty basic and barebones setup.

Sample Broadcast Setup with Hardware Encoder (pdf)

A slightly more advanced setup that utilizes a cheap production switcher rather than a PC. Cost is a little higher than the NDI setup. Even though the video runs over SDI, I'd still recommend running camera power and control over Cat6 and IP. Video is recorded to SD cards and can be edited on a separate computer.
